Hot Dogs, A Little Marketing, and A Lot of Fun is Mike Rudd's debut book and is about how every job you have gives you the ability to learn what you truly want to do with the rest of your life and have a career, business, or job that you love every day! Hot Dogs were Mike's gateway to discover what he really wanted in this world. Hot dogs taught Mike to never work a job that he didn't love and to passionately believe in what he represents and to never settle for anything else. Mike believes every single one of us has a hot dog stand inside of them. Somewhere passion and motivation are yearning to come out of all of us, and once you find it there is no telling everything you are going to be able to accomplish and feel satisfaction from in life. And that is what Hot Dogs, A Little Marketing, and A Lot of Fun will show you how to do!

Hot Dogs A Little Marketing and A Lot of Fun! Mike Rudd 9781479300174 Books

I purchased this book hoping to get some practical ideas for marketing my small business on a shoestring budget. There is ZERO marketing help in this book. Just a bunch of "I remember the time" stories about the author's sales calls when he sold advertising for radio stations. If you've ever spent time with people who try to relive the glory days of their careers by telling war stories that only mean something to them, you know how quickly this becomes boring and tiresome. The author credits his success at each stage in his career to providing "REMARKABLE" customer service, but does little to show how he accomplished this. Most of his career advice is posed as a sweeping generality restating the obvious, i.e. technology is changing the way we do business so we must be willing to change with it. Duh. So, be warned, this is not a business book. It's not a marketing book. It's an autobiography. And not even a very interesting one at that. The least the author could do is include a hot dog recipe or two. Mike Rudd - you owe me $14.00. Hot Dogs, No Marketing, and A Lot of Duh!

Hot Dogs A Little Marketing and A Lot of Fun! Mike Rudd 9781479300174 Books Reviews

There are many books that try to tell how to do a job , but most of them are written by people who have never actually done the job, or only very briefly. Recently, I saw a fairly famous television actor selling his book about his one year of teaching experience and laughed since I taught for thirty-five years! Mike's book, on the other hand, is a real "how to" book by a man who is successful in his field. It is funny, real, and presents a clear writer's voice. It is an easier read than any marketing textbook and far more useful! I may be a tad prejudiced, but it's a good read! Every story is also true! Buy the book, laugh, and eat more hot dogs!
This is an innovative, original and humorous look at the world of marketing, business and sales from the perspective of the author. The book details Mike's journey through the world of business in an autobiographical style, starting with his exploits on campus selling hot dogs to his fellow students, and offers valuable and insightful advice which can be applied practically to a variety of business scenario's. The author's dynamic slant on business and unique writing style make this book a much easier read than your average marketing manual and as a result it is much more thought provoking. Also, the fact that the advice Mike is offering is based on his actual practical experiences, rather than mere theoretical speculation adds to the relevance and substance of his words.

Mike's success is an inspiration to any young person who is looking to develop a career in business. It shows that there are opportunities out there for our young people if they are motivated, determined and hard working - which I think is very poignant point, particularly given the current economic climate.
Part autobiography, part marketing manual, part sales philosophy, part positive attitude training -- all 100% USDA choice content. The author has collected the important lessons learned on his career path to-date and bundled them into a humble book of personal insights that one can easily tell is as much for his own benefit as it is for any reader's. He begins with his introduction to the hot dog cart business as a way to pay his way through college, little knowing that the practical experience and advice he learns along the way by serving up frankfurters will also serve him well in his career as a professional marketer and salesperson.

This book is an excellent source for inspiring young people considering a career in marketing and sales. It is also an inside look at the mind of a successful Millennial Generation professional that will prove valuable to any manager who has a desperate need to find ways of motivating and driving results from the growing number of these unique members of their own workforce.
I really enjoyed this book. Easy ready, but lots of good self help information put forward with some humor and just interesting reading. Hard to put down. I would recommend this book very highly. Enjoy.
I found this book easy to read and entertaining. Each chapter has a clear business development & customer service message. I love the point that you learn more from real world experiences than in the class room. This book only takes a few hours to read, and you finish each chapter with a smile.
I've known and worked with Mike since he retired from his hot dog career and embarked on his radio sales career. This book combines great examples of real life experiences, creative marketing thought and business success stories...without sounding like some "expert" telling you how it should be done. Mike lived these stories and become very successful in the process. Mike has set a great example for young people (an everyone else as well) that with creative thinking, hard work and really caring about your clients, anyone can be as successful as they want, be it in business and/or life. Congratulations Mike. I look forward to the sequel! Tom Bork
